Medicine/medical procedures conducting tests on children... any pros?

I work for a pharmaceutical manufacturer. When we gross new drugs, we're allowed to interview them on children when we obtain trialling rights from the FDA.
Similar to testing things on animals, how do you grain about medical laboratories carrying out tests medical procedures/medicine on children? To be approved for testing, here has to be some indication of it's usefulness, but it's not fully approved into the souk.
Is this ethical? Are there any pros a bit than cons in doing so?Medicine/medical procedures conducting tests on children... any pros?
I'm not sure why conducting tests on children should be viewed any differently than trialling on adults. If the drug will or has the potential to be used by children once it hits the common market, it pays to interview it on them first to try and uncover as lots population-specific adverse effects as possible. I'm not sure why this is anything but a good and responsible article to do. Am I understanding your sound out correctly?
